All men need their own space. If you are lucky, then you have a nice finished basement or even a family room to call your own. However, that’s not always the case. Don’t despair! There is one place that no wife has ever tried to claim as hers – the garage. With just a few upgrades, like epoxy flooring, you can have the garage man cave of your dreams and still be able to park in it. It’s a two-for-one, and everyone’s happy.
Planning Your Garage Man Cave
Obviously, if you have a significant amount of money to invest in this project, then there are no limits to the “cool” things you can do to your garage. However, let’s assume that your budget is modest and all you are after is a comfortable space where you can decompress.
There are a couple of things that are a must for your garage man cave! You need to be warm. Sitting by yourself in a parka, shivering in the cold, is NOT relaxing.
Heat Your Garage Man Cave
You have several heating choices from which to pick. Infrared heaters work well, and so do floorboard heaters. If you insulate the walls of your garage, you may find that all you need to do is open the door to the main house and enough heat will come in to be comfortable.
Whichever form of heat you choose, we do recommend that you avoid benzene heaters. Without proper ventilation, benzene can cause all sorts of nasty disorders that nobody wants to experience.
Invest in Good Lighting
You should also take a look at the electrical situation. Do you have enough outlets? Is there enough lighting? Should you install ceiling fans?
No matter what you plan to do in your new man cave, you are going to need light. Don’t settle for bare bulbs or bright white fluorescent shop lights. There are nice LED shop lights that look good AND put out a lot of light.
Use Epoxy Flooring in Your Garage Man Cave
Finally, take a look at the floor. Bare concrete is cold. It also looks hideous. However, you also need to be practical. What if a hail storm is coming? You may need to put those cars back in the garage. Carpet is definitely out for a garage man cave. It’s completely impractical. No, the best flooring for this situation is epoxy flooring.
Epoxy flooring comes in a variety of patterns and colors. You can coordinate it with your refrigerator, your couch, or your mounted deer heads. Epoxy flooring is durable! Billiard balls and weight equipment won’t chip it. It’s also stain resistant. Oil and grease wipe right up along with any other type of liquid you might spill.
The cost of installing an epoxy floor in your new man cave is less than you think. Give us a call for your free estimate and move one step closer to having a space to call your own.
